Funding Source: This is a grant-funded position under the TX ACE 21 st Century Community Learning Centers
Grant.

 

Job Scope

Uses some independent judgement and familiarity of the field to perform work. May provide input into the
development of policies and procedures. May be responsible for administration of moderate complexity
departmental programs. The ACE Program Specialist encourages family/parental involvement in the school and
provides ongoing, educational programs to immediate family members, parents/legal guardians of students enrolled
in the West Oso ISD ACE Program.


Position Summary

Responsible for collaborating and supporting district and campus staff in facilitating, developing, programming,
and monitoring the districts after school’s educational programs for students, parents, community, and
stakeholders while complying with state and federal requirements for assigned programs.


Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
1. Provide supports to the Program Director with managing and supervision of assigned educational programs.
2. Coordinates the High Impact Tutoring program at all campuses.
3. Observe classroom instruction and provide input to coaching and implementation support for after school teachers             facilitators in assigned programs.
4. Provide support with developing and evaluating professional development growth plans for program teachers as needed     using some latitude for independent judgement.
5. Provides support with data collection, data entry into TEAL, analyzing data and the development of action plans based 
    on findings.
6. Assist with instructional leadership support to teachers and administrators by modeling effective teaching within the
    classroom.
7. Schedules and conducts special events for students and parents in the after-school program.
8. Marketing and promotion of ACE activities and events.
9. Coordinates with teachers on student goal setting and feedback in support of reading and math.
10. Conducts daily instruction to ensure the development of all youth through comprehensive and age-appropriate lesson
      planning for after school programs.
11. Plans, coordinates, and implements a Family Engagement Program at each campus.
12. Works closely with the campus and the parent involvement programs at each campus.
13. Plans and organizes Family Support Service workshops.
14. Promotes parent and community volunteers at the campus.
15. Works closely with at-risk students to ensure they receive continued support for their educational goals.
16. Informs families of community resources that could provide needed assistance.
17. Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this 
      position.

 

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
2+ years progressive experience in educational program administration or related function.
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. 


Preferred Qualifications
Valid Texas Teacher Certification or endorsement from TEA in related field strongly encouraged
 5+ years progressive experience in educational program administration or related function
 Master's Degree from an accredited university.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
 Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy. 
Excellent ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, families, district personnel,
   business partners, and the community.

 Demonstrated knowledge of adult education curriculum and assessments.
 Knowledge and administration of state and federal grant applications.
Proven ability to assess and modify the instructional programs for adult learners.
 Proficiency with a variety of software programs including Microsoft Office, Suite, Google, Canva, Adobe
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to problem solves, think critically, and manage conflict.
Knowledge and development of state and federal mandates, district policies, procedures and regulations relaated
   to assigned programs.


Working Conditions 

Work Environment:
Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and
equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.

 

 Frequent exposure to temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Occasional exposure
 to biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.


Physical Demands/Requirements:

 Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines and prolonged or
irregular hours; Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing; Occasional: Lifting
and carrying 10-25 pounds frequently, 25-40 pounds occasionally, more than 45 pounds infrequently with
assistance; Pushing/pulling 10-35 pounds sporadically; May be required under specific circumstances to
provide physical restraint of students in danger of causing harm to themselves or others; Frequent
districtwide and occasional statewide travel.
